Governor Wes Moore Endorses Charles Booker for U.S. Senate
LOUISVILLE, KY — Maryland Governor Wes Moore has officially endorsed Kentucky Democratic nominee Charles Booker in the race to replace Mitch McConnell in the U.S. Senate. Gov. Moore’s support adds another major backer for Booker, as national political figures increasingly view the Bluegrass State as a key battleground in this year’s midterm elections.
Momentum is building behind Booker’s candidacy. Gov. Moore’s endorsement follows Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker's endorsement of Booker. With Govs. Moore and Pritzker, two of America’s most significant political figures, see in Charles Booker someone who will put common sense over corruption and deliver for the people of Kentucky.
“With Mitch McConnell finally leaving the Senate, Kentucky has a generational opportunity to choose prosperity and common sense over the same status quo that has governed the state for over four decades,” said Gov. Wes Moore. “Charles Booker’s plan is to lower prices, end corruption in Washington, and ensure that every Kentuckian has the opportunity to receive affordable healthcare. Charles is the leader Kentucky needs right now, and he’s a leader the entire country will be proud of.”
Gov. Wes Moore has emerged as one of the country’s top leaders. Before he was elected Maryland’s 63rd Governor, Moore served as a 2nd Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, leading soldiers into combat in Afghanistan. Since he was elected governor, Maryland has become an economic engine under Gov. Moore's leadership, with 55,000 new businesses opening their doors and bringing new, good-paying jobs across the state. Gov. Moore has cut taxes for the middle class while ensuring Annapolis delivered a balanced budget, expanded healthcare options for Marylanders, expanded options for affordable housing, and made communities safer.
“I want to thank Gov. Moore for his support for our campaign,” said Charles Booker. “He and other national leaders can see the movement we’ve built in Kentucky to stand up against corruption, fight to lower costs for working families, ensure that we all have the same type of quality healthcare Mitch McConnell has enjoyed, and that we, together, put Kentucky First and deliver on an agenda that will ensure we all can prosper, no matter our zip code.”
