A Kentuckian, born and raised
Charles Booker is a husband, a father of two daughters, and a lifelong Kentuckian. He grew up in West Louisville in a family that worked hard and still came up short, where the electricity got cut off, where dinner sometimes meant deciding who ate, and where the insulin his family needed had to be rationed to make it last.
That experience shaped everything about how he leads. He knows the cost of a politics that treats poverty as background noise, because he lived it.
Service in the Kentucky House
Charles was elected to the Kentucky House of Representatives, where he became a leading voice for healthcare access, criminal justice reform, and economic justice, and where he helped lead the fight for Breonna's Law.
He built coalitions across party lines and across the state, because the crisis facing eastern Kentucky and the crisis facing West Louisville are the same crisis wearing different clothes.
From the hood to the holler
"From the hood to the holler" isn't a slogan. It's a strategy. Charles has spent years showing up in counties where campaigns don't bother to go, listening to coal miners, farmers, nurses, teachers, and small business owners who've been told their vote doesn't matter.
What he found is what he already knew: Kentuckians across race, religion, and class want the same things: healthcare they can afford, jobs that sustain a family, water they can drink, and leaders who don't flinch.
