ICYMI: Charles Booker Capitalizes on Post-Debate Press Storm

LOUISVILLE, KY — Last week was a barnstormer for Charles Booker, Kentucky’s Democratic nominee for U.S. Senate, as the momentum and media coverage around the race continues to build.

Booker began the week with an appearance on NewsNation Prime Weekends, where he discussed President Trump’s rally in Kentucky (another sign of the race tightening) and previewed Monday’s debate. His dominant performance against opponent Andy Barr led to an influx of print and broadcast coverage across Kentucky.

Rather than rest on his laurels, however, Booker jumped right from the debate stage and back into his statewide Kentucky Over Politics tour. His packed schedule included a Get Out the Vote rally in Bowling Green, a meeting with voters in Hopkinsville, and a town hall with students at Western Kentucky University. He also continued to participate in long-form, in-depth discussions around his campaign and policy ideas, and published op-eds in both Newsweek and The Courier-Journal.

Booker’s work stands in sharp contrast to Andy Barr’s campaign strategy. Barr is actively shying away from both voters and press, a fact made clear by his refusal to join the post-debate press gaggle. Barr knows that the more people learn about his agenda, the less they support him. Booker, meanwhile, is striving to get his Kentucky First message out as far and wide as possible, and remains committed to doing so during the campaign’s final days.
