As Momentum Grows, Booker to Face Barr in Sole Debate of Kentucky U.S. Senate Race

LOUISVILLE, KY — Tonight, Democratic nominee Charles Booker will face off against Republican Andy Barr in the sole debate of the Kentucky U.S. Senate race.

With just over two weeks until Election Day, the race is rapidly heating up. This morning, leading Kentucky newspaper The Courier-Journal published op-eds from both candidates. While Barr’s consisted of little beyond baseless attacks and name-calling, Booker took the opportunity to directly address how he’ll serve the people of Kentucky and put common sense over corruption and people over politics, overviewing policies on data centers, rural healthcare, and other key issues.

This race is tightening, and Andy Barr and his supporters know it. In an interview this morning on Fox News, following a Saturday rally in Northern Kentucky, President Trump said that the race is “close enough that I should be here.” This is clear evidence of Barr’s nervousness, particularly Trump’s promise of a $100 million investment if his party holds onto Congress.

The Keep America Great Again PAC spent nearly $1 million on a new ad targeting Booker, which played during an NFL game on Sunday, making it even clearer that this is shaping up to be a razor-thin contest.

Booker is pushing back, however, with an ad of his own. “Welcome to McConnell’s” highlights McConnell and Barr’s support of corporate tax breaks, corruption, data centers, and more.

To see for themselves the difference between Booker and Barr, voters across Kentucky can tune into the debate tonight at 7:00pm ET on WKYT.
