CORRUPTION & DEMOCRACY: Fighting Corruption & Draining the Swamp

Mitch McConnell was elected when I was two weeks old. He used to deliver for Kentucky, supporting the projects and programs that brought jobs and funding to our Commonwealth. But somewhere along the way, things changed. Mitch McConnell became the type of swamp creature Donald Trump pledged to drain away from Washington. But the swamp was never drained, and it’s only gotten bigger. Andy Barr wants to maintain a status quo in Washington that’s helped him grow his net worth by 300% since he got elected to Congress while failing to deliver for the people of Kentucky.

I’m going to Washington, D.C., and I will drain the swamp for real.

First, no one should serve in the Senate for forty-two years. I will support a constitutional amendment to establish term limits for members of Congress. Public service should be about exactly that: serving the public. I support banning members of Congress from trading stocks while they’re in office, using insider information to enrich themselves. We’ll also stop the revolving door by banning former members of Congress from becoming lobbyists.

It doesn’t stop there. We also need to ensure elected officials and administration members can’t personally profit from private business ventures while serving in government.

We’re going to center common sense over corruption and finally drain the DC Swamp. The era of Mitch McConnell and Andy Barr’s self-enrichment is over.
