HEALTHCARE: Making Healthcare Affordable for All Kentuckians

Healthcare is a human right. Period. No one should have to die, ration their medicine, skip a doctor’s appointment, or choose between putting food on the table or paying a medical bill. I’m a Type 1 Diabetic who’s had to ration my insulin to have enough money to feed my three daughters. My story is all too common across Kentucky, and it needs to end, but my opponent, Andy Barr, has significantly worsened our healthcare crisis. Cuts to Medicaid and Affordable Care Act subsidies have made healthcare more expensive and less accessible for Kentuckians across the Commonwealth.

That changes when I get to Washington, because I am committed to making healthcare more affordable for everyone. As we work towards a goal of making sure we can all enjoy the same healthcare Mitch McConnell enjoyed during his 42 years in office, I will restore the Affordable Care Act subsidies Andy Barr voted to eliminate, work to provide options for health coverage that would build upon our successful Medicaid expansion here in Kentucky, and make sure that if you like the coverage you have, you can keep it.

Prescription drug costs are out of control, so I will work to expand the Medicare Drug Negotiation Program so every Kentuckian can pay less for the medicine they need to live full lives.
