Our war of choice in Iran has sent the prices for gasoline and diesel skyrocketing. This administration promised to stop endless war. Instead, they started a brand new one, with no strategy, no end game, and no purpose. The result has sent the price of an average gallon of regular unleaded gasoline up nearly $2.80 in the last year.

When I get to Washington, on day one, I will work to reassert Congress’s authority over military action and end the war in Iran. To help provide immediate relief at the pump, I will move to suspend the Federal Gas Tax for a year. The war and ensuing fuel crisis have also driven our Strategic Petroleum Reserve to record lows, which is why I am ready to work with members of both parties to develop a strategy to replenish the Reserve and prevent future spikes in gas prices.
