FARMERS & TARIFFS: Supporting Kentucky’s Farmers

Kentucky is home to more than 70,000 farms, most of them family farmers. Over the years, I’ve had the opportunity to meet with farmers, learn from them, and understand the challenges they face. Costs have skyrocketed, and pressure on our farmers is mounting. More than 17,000 Kentucky farms have shut down in recent years.

Tariffs and unnecessary wars have further strained family farmers. Fertilizer and diesel fuel costs have skyrocketed. Trade wars make it much harder for farmers to bring their crops to market or access the critical parts and equipment they need to keep their farms running.

Dysfunction in Washington hasn’t helped. When I get to Washington, we'll move the Farm Bill, and I will support the $12 billion farm aid package to put Kentucky’s farmers first.
