Role overview

Booker for the Commonwealth is the campaign to elect Charles Booker to the United States Senate from Kentucky. The general election is November 3, 2026.

The campaign is seeking a GOTV Director to build and run its distributed organizing program. The GOTV Director owns volunteer recruitment and voter contact across text, phones, and digital engagement, and supports in-person work happening across the state.

The GOTV Director should be a self-starter who is driven to meet goals, enjoys working with a small team, and is passionate about managing relationships with volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run the distributed voter contact program across peer-to-peer text, dials, and digital engagement, including volunteer recruitment, campaign builds, scripts and the outbound organizing calendar.
  • Recruit, onboard, train, and develop volunteers, including a bench of volunteer leaders who host shifts, answer questions, and moderate the community.
  • Own the volunteer community on Discord: onboarding flow, channel structure, weekly all-volunteer meeting, daily action posts, and open call hours.
  • Run the campaign's digital engagement program, including ongoing digital content for volunteers to share, training on digital engagement best practices and rapid-response content.
  • Keep voter contact results clean and current in VAN, and report on weekly output against campaign goals.
  • Work with the campaign's political, data, communications, and digital teams to keep the organizing program aligned with the campaign's targeting and message.

Qualifications

  • At least two cycles of organizing experience, with a strong preference for at least one cycle running a distributed, virtual, or relational voter contact program.
  • Experience running peer-to-peer text and phone programs at volume, including script writing, campaign builds, and volunteer training.
  • Fluency with organizing tools such as VAN, Scale to Win or a similar dialer and texting platform, and Mobilize America. Experience running a volunteer community on Discord or Slack is a plus.
  • Comfort training and managing volunteers over video, and a track record of moving volunteers into leadership roles.
  • Strong written communication and attention to detail, especially in scripts, training, and volunteer-facing materials.
  • Kentucky ties or existing relationships with local Democratic and community organizations are a plus.
